Winter in Ukraine, Icy roads

Winter, Ice and fluffy Cat

Hooray, yesterday I finally went back to my classes at the "Olive" center! We had to miss the last lessons because our town was covered with snow and the roads were icy. The car couldn’t drive anywhere, so we stayed home and waited for warmer weather.

But today it got a little warmer, and our car could finally take us to the city. I was so happy on the way there. I really missed my teachers, the games, and all the fun things we do together.

The lessons were very веселые and busy. I practiced speaking, played active sports games, ran and moved a lot, and laughed with everyone. My body felt awake and strong again.

And at art therapy, I made a cool fluffy cat! He is soft and funny, and I like him very much. I felt proud of my work. It was such a good day, and I can’t wait to come back again.

Evening, Candles, and Soft Clay

In the evening, our home is quiet and dark, and candles are glowing softly. This feels like the perfect time to create something new. When everything slows down, I can focus and enjoy making art.

Today I want to make a new dinosaur picture. I want him to be bright and cheerful. First, I draw a simple pencil sketch. Then, instead of using paints, I use soft air-dry clay. I really like it because it is colorful and easy to shape. I can make any form and give the picture volume.

I choose warm, gentle colors that match the cozy feeling at home. A small button becomes the dinosaur’s eye - it looks just right. At the end, I add a little paint to the background to finish the picture.

Now my dinosaur is ready. I really like this activity because it makes me feel calm and happy. It’s time to go to sleep, and I know I will have magical dreams tonight.

A Quiet Evening With My Favorite Book

  • Timosha & Dad
  • Jan 18, 2026

In the evening, we have no electricity again, and it is a good reason to read my favorite book about animals. It is quiet at home, and we light lantern and sit together. I like this time because everything feels slow and cozy.

This is a new book I got as a New Year gift. Inside, there are many pictures of different animals and small stories about them. I like looking at the pictures and reading the book by myself, and also reading it together with my mom and dad.

I already know all the animals in this book. I even know their names in English. I try to remember how they look, so later I can draw them in my pictures.

It is not scary when there is no electricity. What matters most is that my parents are with me, and our home is warm.

Magic in the Dark

There has been no electricity for four days already. All our batteries are completely drained, and in the evenings the house becomes quiet and dark. Simple things we usually don’t even notice — turning on a light, charging devices, watching cartoons, or playing music — are not possible right now. The days feel slower, and the nights come earlier.

But this is not a reason to be upset or lose heart. Even in the darkness, we can find warmth and calm. We light candles, sit close together, and allow ourselves to slow down. Without bright screens and noise, the world feels softer, and time moves in a different way.

In this gentle, flickering light, drawing and painting feel even more special. The shadows dance on the walls, and every color on the paper looks warmer and deeper. Timosha becomes very focused and calm, choosing his pencils carefully and taking his time.

With candles glowing nearby, Timosha can still paint, concentrate, and create beautiful pictures. The lack of electricity doesn’t stop creativity — it simply changes the mood. It reminds us that even in difficult times, there is still space for imagination, peace, and small moments of happiness. That evening, Timosha was drawing magical animals with colored pencils, and the room felt full of quiet light and gentle joy.

The New Year and Christmas holidays are over, and I finally feel well again. Now I can go back to my classes with my mom and dad at my favorite center for children with special needs. I really missed my teachers and the fun lessons we do together.

After being sick and having a long break, it was hard to start active classes again. My body felt a bit slow, and everything was new again. But my trainers helped me gently, and little by little I found my rhythm.

They know how to make learning feel safe and happy. They helped me remember the exercises and games, and they made sure I felt comfortable and calm. This helped me join the process again without fear.

Before the classes start, there is a little free time. I love this part. My mom and I play with new toys and look at new books and coloring pages that the center prepared for us. It makes me smile and feel ready to learn again.

New Year

I love New Year!
Everyone is waiting for the holiday - for the busy days, tasty treats, and gifts. I really like decorating the New Year tree, hanging toys and lights on it. This year I chose the ornaments myself and hung them on the tree on my own. It was really great. When I couldn’t reach higher branches, Mom and Dad helped me.

I felt very happy when we all prepared for New Year together. We decorated the tree, cooked festive food, and spent time as a family. Everything felt warm and special.

Almost the whole day on December 31 we didn’t have electricity, but it was turned on just half a minute before New Year came. We all sat together by candlelight, talked, and wished each other peace and that all our dreams would come true.

In the morning, when I woke up, a gift was waiting for me under the tree. I got new paints and brushes, and a wonderful new book about animals.

I really love New Year!

The First Snow

I really love snow. When it falls, I am always happy and want to go outside right away. This winter was soft and warm where we live, and the snow stayed only for a few days. We didn’t want to miss it, so Dad and I went outside to play together.

We spent a long time outdoors. We walked, played with snow, threw snowballs, talked, and made little snow figures. Everything was white and quiet, and the air felt fresh and cold. I liked watching how the snow changed the world around us.

Winter is fun!!

When I got tired, Dad lifted me onto his shoulders, and we walked like that for a while so I could rest. Later we went to see the biggest Christmas tree in our town. It was very tall and beautiful, much bigger than the one at home. I saw many kids playing outside, and I thought that one day I would like to play together with my friends too.

Our Little Family Journal Begins

  • Timosha & Dad
  • Dec 20, 2025

This is our very first post, and it feels a little like opening the door and saying hello. We’re starting this blog as a simple family journal - a place to collect moments, ideas, drawings, questions, and small stories from our everyday life. Nothing here is rushed or polished. It’s about noticing and sharing.

Timosha sees the world in his own special way, and we want to keep those moments alive - his art, his thoughts, the funny things he says, and the quiet discoveries that happen in between. Along the way, Dad will also write sometimes, reflecting on family life, creativity, growing up together, and learning to slow down and pay attention.

We don’t have a strict plan for this blog. We’ll post when there’s something worth sharing - a story, a picture, a thought, or just a moment we don’t want to forget. If you’re reading this, thank you for being here at the very beginning. This is where our story starts.
